Ornement répertorié par Vervliet sous l'appelation "Granjon's flower on Long Primer". Sa première occurence est attestée en 1557. 

Vervliet ne signale pas l'existence d'un second fleuron rigoureusement symétrique, employé simultanément à celui-ci.
